Holly and Bella

This is a blog about our little family, and that includes Holly, our sweet corgi, and Bella, the world’s most beautiful cat.   Bella came to live with me eight years ago when she was just a kitten, even before Bennett was around.  By some stroke of luck (or fate, or destiny, or meant-to-be-ness), Bennett is the only person in his family who isn’t allergic to cats, so he and Bella got along famously (and still do).  She keeps him company on weekend mornings while he eats his breakfast in the bonus room, watching his movies or playing his video games.  She’s a sweet girl, our Bella:

Just a wee little thing…

Christmas 2003

So Bella was an only child until Dec. 2008, when a new little sister came home to stay. Bella was not impressed (nor is she to this day).  We had grand designs of our pets getting along wonderfully, napping together in the sunshine.  Instead, Holly chases Bella, Bella chases Holly, and we spend our time yelling at both of them to cut it out.  But we love them anyway 🙂

Holly is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, so she’s low to the ground and loves to herd people, cats, birds, and anything else she can manage.  She’s not obnoxious about it usually – she just needs to make sure she knows where all of her charges are at any one time, which can stress her out a bit.  So she likes to position herself where she can see everyone, and occasionally she’ll accompany you to the bathroom, just to make sure you don’t need any help.  She’s a helpful little dog.

Holly came into our family about 10 days before we moved to a new house, so she got to help us pack.  It was exhausting work.

But there were some perks…

In Holly’s short life of less than three years, she’s seen snow three times!  She was intrigued…

So those are our girls…we love them very much!  We think they’re awfully cute – which means they get away with a lot of stuff.  But in general, they’re good girls who give us lots of love in return.

Nice job on the blog! I enjoyed catching up on your old posts. I gotta say that despite Davis, Daniel and Joshua’s allergies to cats, Bella’s kitten picture is just precious. I can’t believe how tiny Holly was when you brought her home. And, I can’t wait until the newest addition to your family arrives!

    Love you,
    Angie
